Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, established in 1976 as a residential University with the objective of promoting inter-disciplinary higher education and research with special emphasis on studies of environmental, ecological and life sciences, is making significant progress to emerge as a leading educational institution of the nation. Named after the visionary social reformer Swami Dayanand Saraswati, the University provides an ideal and enabling environment for academic excellence and holistic growth.
Presently, M.D.U is a teaching-cum-affiliating University with an excellent track record in academics, research, literary and cultural activities, games & sports, and social outreach.
The University has been accredited with ‘A+’ grading by NAAC in March 2019. The University secured 46th rank in State Public University Category in NIRF Survey 2025 organized by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of M.D. University achieved 43rd rank in Pharmacy Category in NIRF Survey 2025.
Notably, Maharshi Dayanand University was adjudged the cleanest University among Government Universities in SWACHH CAMPUS RANKING 2018 by MHRD. Further, MDU was recognized as GREEN MENTOR Institution by MHRD in 2020.
Maharshi Dayanand University comprises 10 Faculties, 41 University Teaching Departments (UTDs), Centre of Distance and Online Education, one Off-Campus Centre at Gurugram and 248 affiliated colleges including Degree, Engineering, Architecture, Management, Law and Education colleges.
