In alignment with the esteemed traditions and values of the University, the University Institute of Public Health Sciences has been established with the mission to provide top-tier education aimed at cultivating skilled professionals to meet both current and future demands of our nation. The programs offered by the institute are meticulously designed to cater to the needs of society while adhering to the guidelines set forth in the National Education Policy (NEP-2020). With a commitment to excellence, the institute ensures the delivery of high-quality course content facilitated by seasoned faculty members and industry experts, with a strong emphasis on practical training and hands-on experience. Public health programs are poised to play a pivotal role in addressing the healthcare challenges of our nation, and the institute is dedicated to nurturing competent professionals in this field. Furthermore, in line with the principles outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP-2020), there is a strong emphasis on multidisciplinary programs, which have the potential to tackle societal issues on a broader scale. 

Bachelor in Public Health Sciences

The Bachelor in Public Health Sciences (BPHS) is a 4-year undergraduate program aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, designed to equip students with comprehensive knowledge and skills in public health. This multidisciplinary course covers key areas such as epidemiology, health promotion, environmental health, biostatistics, and health policy management. NEP 2020 emphasizes a flexible and holistic education approach, allowing students to choose elective courses and pursue internships for practical exposure. The curriculum integrates modern teaching methods, including experiential learning, community engagement, and research projects, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Graduates are prepared for diverse career opportunities in public health organizations, healthcare institutions, NGOs, and government agencies, contributing to the nation's health and well-being.

To improve the health of the diverse communities including rural, underserved, and global population through education, skill, research, outreach services, and creative partnerships. 

Objectives 

To develop Public Health professionals who shall:  

  • Apply the knowledge of Public Health Sciences to the community, health care delivery, research and population-based community health initiatives
  • Ready to approach and address public health challenges in terms of Health Promotion, Disease Prevention and achieving wellness of the society
  • Promote healthy lifestyles, research disease epidemiology and injury prevention as well as detect, prevent and respond to communicable diseases (including outbreaks) and non-communicable diseases
  • Investigate disease outbreaks, their determinants and risks to improve health care delivery as well as quality and to influence policies and -programs

MDU Facilities

Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, offers a comprehensive range of facilities to support the academic and extracurricular pursuits of its students. The expansive 622-acre campus encompasses state-of-the-art infrastructure, including the Vivekananda Library, which houses over 4 lakh volumes and provides seating for approximately 2,463 readers. For accommodation, the university offers 18 hostels, eight for boys and ten for girls, each equipped with essential amenities such as indoor games, recreation areas, and internet connectivity. Sports enthusiasts benefit from a well-equipped sports complex featuring facilities like a cricket stadium, swimming pool, air-conditioned multipurpose gymnasium, synthetic athletics track, lawn tennis courts, boxing hall, wrestling hall, kabaddi hall, judo hall, squash hall, and a dedicated sports hostel. Additionally, the Aryabhata Central Instrumentation Laboratory provides advanced research equipment, while the University Computer Centre manages IT infrastructure and services. The campus also includes a health centre staffed by a full-time doctor and paramedical personnel, ensuring primary healthcare services are readily available to the university community.

Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, offers a range of facilities that significantly enhance the academic and research environment of the University Institute of Public Health Sciences (UIPHS). The Aryabhata Central Instrumentation Laboratory (ACIL) provides advanced research equipment, including real-time PCR systems, inverted microscopes, and high-shear homogenizers, supporting cutting-edge research in public health sciences. Additionally, the Vivekananda Library, with its extensive collection of over 4 lakh volumes and seating capacity for approximately 2,463 readers, serves as a valuable resource for academic and research activities. These facilities collectively foster a conducive environment for UIPHS to achieve its mission of providing top-tier education and cultivating skilled public health professionals.

    • Environmental and Occupational Health: Assessing and mitigating health risks related to environmental pollutants, workplace hazards, and climate change.
    • Health Policy and Management: Developing and implementing effective health policies, health systems management, and resource allocation strategies.
    • Maternal and Child Health: Ensuring the health and well-being of mothers, infants, and children through preventive and curative health services.
    • Nutrition and Food Safety: Addressing malnutrition, food security, and safety issues to promote community health and well-being.
