The Centre for Medical Biotechnology (CMBT) is currently offering an M.Sc. in Medical Biotechnology and a Ph.D. in Medical Biotechnology in various fields. The center has state-of-the-art infrastructure and laboratories with sophisticated instruments. It seeks to produce personnel trained in identifying, comprehending, and working towards the cure of a variety of medical conditions. The Department of Biotechnology of the Indian government established CMBT in 2011. MDU administers the common entrance examination for life sciences in order to admit students to the M.Sc. Medical Biotechnology program. The center has a dedicated team of qualified faculty members in order to meet the needs of our students for their overall development. Advanced, hands-on research in contemporary biology continues to be an integral component of our curriculum. In addition to lab courses, all fourth semester students must complete a six-month research dissertation programme. Team CMBT is committed to achieving our mission, which is to produce human resources with the scientific and technical expertise necessary to address medical problems at both the fundamental and translational levels.

About Us

The Centre for Medical Biotechnology was established in 2011 as a constituent unit of the Faculty of Life Sciences. The institution provides postgraduate programs at the Master's and Doctoral levels, specifically in the area of Medical Biotechnology. The facility has advanced infrastructure and laboratory amenities. The faculty members engage in consistent efforts to secure extramural funding from diverse scientific agencies to support a range of research projects. The department's research focus is centered around the fields of Genetic Engineering, Molecular Diagnostic, Stem cell biology, cancer biology and Virology.

M.SC (MEDICAL BIOTECHNOLOGY) - CBCS

(1).Students are admitted to the M.Sc. programme on the basis of an All-India entrance examination conducted by Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU) and through MDU combined life science entrance exam. (2).Programme is sponsored by Department of Biotechnology (DBT) , Govt. of India. (3).Total intake of students in this programme is 25. (4).Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) is offered to allow students to pursue subjects of their interests. (5).Programme places particular emphasis on practical learning and out-of-box thinking. (6).Emphasis on enhancing the communication and comprehensive skills. (7).Students are encouraged to go for Clinical Summer Training. (8).Hand-on experience for research work as ‘’dissertation’’ in final semester.

PH.D. COURSE WORK (MEDICAL BIOTECHNOLOGY

(1). CMBT offers multi and inter-disciplinary Doctoral programme to train outstanding students in basic and applied research. (2). Students can secure admission to the Ph.D. program after qualifying entrance examination and viva-voce. (3).The students must be qualified for Junior Research Fellowship of UGC/CSIR/DBT/ICMR. (4).CMBT offers state-of-the-art instrumentation facility. (5).Major areas of research includes Immunology, Virology, Stem Cell Biology, Genomics, Diagnostics and Genetic Engineering.
