MDU Facilities

X – Ray Diffraction (XRD):

Make/Model : Rigaku/ MiniFlex - 600

Description: X – Ray Diffraction (XRD) is an analytical technique used to study crystal structure, crystallite size, phase transformation, interplanar spacing etc. When X-ray beam interacts with a crystalline microstructure, a diffraction pattern is observed due to interference of diffracted waves from different atomic layers.

MDU Facilities

Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC)-TG Analyzer:

Make/Model : TA Instruments/ Q600

Description: The Differential Scanning Calorimeter is an instrument which detects the exothermic and endothermic phenomenon taking place in the sample and measures their intensities. In this technique, the weight of the samples is continuously monitored as a function of time or temperature in a well defined atmosphere.

MDU Facilities

Fourier Transform Infra-Red spectroscopy (FTIR):

Make/Model : Thermo Scientific/ iS50

Description: Fourier Transform Infra-Red spectroscopy technique is used for identification of different functional groups present in the material/ compound by absorbing infrared radiation at different wavelengths.

MDU Facilities

Cyclic voltammetry (CV):

Make/Model : Bio-Logic Instruments/ VMP 300

Description: CV is a valuable technique to characterize the redox properties of a material such as cyclic stability, potential window and reversibility. Cyclic voltammetry measures the current response of an electrode immersed in a solution when its potential is cycled between two distinct values.

MDU Facilities

Impedance Analyzer:

Make/Model : Wayne Kerr/ 6500B

Description: Impedance Analyzer is an experimental tool used to measure complex electrical impedance as a function of frequency which is an important parameter used to characterize electronic components, electronic circuits, and the materials used to make components.

MDU Facilities

Hydrothermal Synthesis Unit:

Make/Model : NanoMag Instruments

Description: Hydrothermal synthesis refers to the synthesis of materials via chemical reactions in a sealed reactor and at high pressure.

MDU Facilities

Hydraulic Press:

Make/Model:PCI India

Description: Hydraulic Press is extensively used to compact homogeneous powders into a firm pellets.

MDU Facilities

High Energy Ball Mill:

Make/Model : Insmart/ PBM

Description: The ball mill is used for grinding materials into fine powders and to reduce particle size up to nanometer range.

MDU Facilities

High Temperature Muffle Furnace Programmable:

Make/Model : Metrex Scientific Instruments

Description: It is used for controlled and ambient heating that is for treating the samples at high-temperature and to carry out the process of calcination and sintering, also have applications in fusing glass and ceramics.

MDU Facilities

High Temperature Tubular Furnace 1700 °C:

Make/Model : Metrex Scientific Instruments

Description: Furnace has a maximum operating temperature of 1700 °C and can be used in calcinations, annealing and sintering process in inert atmosphere.

MDU Facilities

Circulating System Chiller/Circulator:

Make/Model : Sumex/LE-20

Description: Circulating chillers are cooling systems that provide precise temperature control as well as cooling below ambient temperature.

MDU Facilities

Microprocessor Controlled oven:

Make/Model : Metrex Scientific Instruments

Description: Microprocessor Controlled oven can be used for sample drying, annealing, conditioning, sterilizing, evaporating and dehydrating the samples.

MDU Facilities

High Temperature Programmable Tubular Furnace 1400 °C:

Make/Model : Metrex Scientific Instruments

Description: Furnace has a maximum operating temperature of 1400 °C and is used in calcination, annealing and sintering process in inert atmosphere.

MDU Facilities

Thin Film Coating Unit:

Make/Model : Vico Scientific

Description: Thin film of materials grown by thermal evaporation, are intensively used in Opto-electric devices (solar cell, photo-detector).
