About Us

The Department of Law was established in the University in 1978 with the following broad objectives:- (i) to train students for career as Professional Advocates in the Courts; (ii) to equip/prepare them for judicial services; (iii) to improve legal competence; (iv) to train students for career as Personnel Managers in Organizations; (v) to prepare competent personnel for careers in teaching, research and consultancy in legal procedure and problems; and (vi) to extend the frontiers of knowledge in law through research and development.

At present the following Four courses are being run in the Department:-

B.A.LL.B (Hons.) 5-Year Integrated with an intake of 120 students
LL.B (3 Year) course (Morning) with an intake of 120 students.
LL.M (2 Year) course (Shift 1 & Shift 2) in different specialization including Criminal Law Group, Corporate Law Group and Constitutional Law Group with an intake 30 students each.
Ph.D (Law).

The Department has large number of students seeking admission in various courses. We have a rich Deptt. library. Every year a large number of students join Civil & Judicial services in Haryana and other states. There is shortage of funds for organising various students, extension and research programme. We also lack facility of campus placement and need extension of Department building. Most of the students of our department go for practice as an advocate in different High Courts including Punjab & Haryana High Court, Chandigarh, Rajasthan High Court, Jaipur, H.P. High Court, Shimla and Allahabad High Court. Similarly, a number of students of the Department have joined Civil Services, State Executive Services and Judicial Services in the above mentioned High Courts as well as District Courts. Some of the students of the Department have joined as Legal Executive and Senior Executives at Airport Authority of India. A large number of the students of the Department has joined the Department of Prosecution, Govt. of Haryana at Chandigarh as well as at other places as Assistant District Attorney, Deputy District Attorney and District Attorney. In addition, a huge number of the students has employed as Teaching Faculty in M.D. University, Rohtak, Kurukshetra University, Indira Gandhi University, Meerpur, Rewari and B.P.S. Mahila Vishwidalya, Khanpur Kalan, Sonipat, Delhi University, Delhi, Inderprastha University, Dwarka, Central University, Jat Pali, Mohindergarh. Further, a number of our alumni have joined as teaching in various colleges affiliated to the above Universities.
