ABOUT CMBTThe centre for Medical Biotechnology is sponsored by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India. The centre offers Masters programme in the field of Medical Biotechnology and Doctorate programme in same or related field. The centre has its state-of-the-art infrastructure and laboratory facilities. Year of Establishment : 2011 Year of financial support from DBT : 2011 Total No. of seats for M.Sc Course : 15 (JNU)+10 (MDU) Mode of selection : - Through Common Biotechnology Entrance Examination (JNU) and Life Sc. Entrance Examination (MDU)
CMBT VISION - To produce human resource having critical scientific and technical knowledge tailored to meet needs in medical problems at fundamental as well as translational levels.
CMBT MISSION - To bridge the gap between Academics and Industry by organising Seminars, workshops and Industrial visit

ACADEMICSMaster programme- Students are admitted to the M.Sc. programme on the basis of an All-India entrance examination conducted by Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU) and through MDU combined life science entrance exam.
- Programme is sponsored by Department of Biotechnology (DBT) , Govt. of India.
- Total intake of students in this programme is 25.
- Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) is offered to allow students to pursue subjects of their interests.
- Programme places particular emphasis on practical learning and out-of-box thinking.
- Emphasis on enhancing the communication and comprehensive skills.
- Students are encouraged to go for Clinical Summer Training.
- Hand-on experience for research work as ‘’dissertation’’ in final semester.
Doctorate programme- CMBT offers multi and inter-disciplinary Doctoral programme to train outstanding students in basic and applied research.
- Students can secure admission to the Ph.D. program after qualifying entrance examination and viva-voce.
- The students must be qualified for Junior Research Fellowship of UGC/CSIR/DBT/ICMR.
- CMBT offers state-of-the-art instrumentation facility.
- Major areas of research includes Immunology, Virology, Stem Cell Biology, Genomics, Diagnostics and Genetic Engineering.

SCHOLARSHIPThe selected candidates through JNU entrance examination are given a scholarship of Rs. 5000/- per month by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India. Additionally, a scholarship is given to the Topper of the respective year by MDU. Ph.D. scholars who stood first in entrance merit list can avail university reseacrh scholarship (URS)
